Forge Young Ambassadors Programme

Each secondary school will also nominate two Silver 'Adistars' Young Ambassadors from the Year 1 cohort, who will support the school in promoting PE/Sport.  They will also play an important role in promoting the values of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games within their school and local community.

Forge School Sport Partnership has also nominated three sports leaders from Year 2 who will be our Platinum and Gold Young Ambassadors.  They will work across the entire partnerhsip to promote the values of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and increase the number of young people particpating in PE/Sport.  It is a very high profile position and one that I am sure will be both challenging and rewarding.

Platinum Ambassador - Philip Woods (Tapton Secondary School)

Gold Ambassador - Jake Cook (Handsworth Grange Community Sports College)

Gold Ambassador - Annabel Colley (The City School)

Sheffield Academy of Young Leaders in Sport

The Sheffield Academy of Young Leaders in Sport (SAYLS) was created in 2006.  Each year students are selected from across the City’s schools for their potential ability as leaders.  This selection is based on evidence of what they have already demonstrated in their work within school and/or the community. All students have to undertake leadership roles at events.  These range from working with primary children at School Sport Partnership festivals through to city wide school events and major events such as the Norwich Union Grand Prix athletics and the BUSA Games.

Recruit Into Coaching

The programme aims to provide young people and adults aged 16+ with an appropriate pathway into coaching through developing skills and gaining Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.  It also hopes to encourage coaches to get personally involved within their local communities and make a positive contribution the lives of others.

This will support Forge School Sport Partnership in our work which aims to increase the number of young people taking part in sport and physical activity within our network of schools.

It builds on the development of generic leadership skills and develops an understanding of the coaching process, specifically related to coaching children and working within the school sport context.  Gaining Level 1 and Level 1 sport specific qualifications is central to this programme and will enable you to deliver within a wide variety of settings.

All coaches who sign up to the R.I.C programme will receive Child Protection and First Aid qualifications as standard and will also have a full enhanced CRB check through Forge SSP.
